Musician-actress Eve officially has signed on to The Talk as a new host.

"We are thrilled to welcome Eve to the table as she brings a fun and fresh perspective to our already diverse panel", said Angelica McDaniel, executive vice president, daytime programs, CBS Entertainment, in a statement.

Eve - full name Eve Jeffers Cooper - is taking over the seat vacated by Aisha Tyler, who left the show in July.

Do you think Eve is a flawless fit to host alongside Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood?

"It is a new career move for me", Eve told Variety.

"When I first got the first call in London, my manager told me about the opportunity, and at first I was like, 'I don't know, because it's far from from home, '" she exclusively tells PEOPLE. "Casting a partner on-air, whether it's one of five, one of two, is a very hard thing because it's that thing we always talk about, chemistry", she added.

Known as "Ruff Ryders' First Lady", Eve has released four studio albums and 32 singles and has collaborated Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Jill Scott, DMX, Swizz Beatz, Dr. Dre, Juicy J, The Roots and Missy Elliott.

Eve rose to fame in the late 90's in the world of hip-hop, peaking in 2001 with her Grammy-winning collaboration with Gwen Stefani for her biggest hit, "Let Me Blow Ya Mind". Last year, she reunited with Stefani for the "This Is What the Truth Feels Like" tour. She's also appeared in the Barbershop films and the TV show Eve.

The Talk is executive produced by John Redmann and Gilbert, who developed the show.
