Airbus Nears Deal for 430 Jets With Indigo Partners

If firmed, this will make Indigo Partners one of the largest customers for the A320neo aircraft family, rivaling the 404-aircraft backlog of AirAsia and the 430-order total of Indian low-priced carrier IndiGo, which has no business relationship with the U.S. investment firm.

The pact would give Airbus the upper hand at the Dubai Air Show, where it has been trailing Boeing Co.in orders.

The Indigo deal would more than double Airbus's existing order book for the year, which stood at about 290 aircraft as of October 31.

The order by Indigo Partners trumps the 2015 order for 250 single-aisle planes valued at $27 billion by Indian budget carrier IndiGo. Based on the list price of the A320neo, Airbus's best-selling single-aisle jet, the purchase would be worth at least $46.6 billion before customary discounts if Indigo exercises all of its rights to the aircraft.

They said the record order would include A320neos and A321neos, with the deal to be officially announced later on Wednesday at the Dubai Air Show.
