Some 46 percent of registered voters would cast their ballots for Biden in the election was held Wednesday, compared to the 35 percent of voters who would vote for Trump. However, Biden isn't as strong as the "Generic Democrat" against Trump in 2020 - the president trails by 14 points in that one, according to Politico.

Biden leads Trump in the Midwest by 9 points (45 percent -36 percent). It is not just good news for Biden: Any Democrat would take down 48 percent of the vote when pitted against the Republican Trump, who the poll said would receive 34 percent in that scenario.

The well-documented close relationship between Barack Obama and his then-vice president, Joe Biden, has made for some comic relief on the internet. Roughly 20 percent of voters said they "don't know" or would have "no opinion" if they had to vote.

"No, I'm not closing the door. I've been around too long". "I would say, 'no, '" Biden told "The Today Show".

Biden, who previously served as a US senator representing DE, also recently challenged Trump's nationalist "America first" policies.

The poll was conducted from November 9 to 11 among 1,993 registered voters.
