Carey Price to miss more games while he recovers from injury

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price has not played since being injured in a November 2nd game against the Minnesota Wild.

But the combination of Price being the franchise goalie, the calendar saying it's only November 14 and the play of Charlie Lindgren has meant that the netminder will be able to take his time to recover from an injury suffered during warmups on November 2.

Price met with reporters Tuesday before Montreal's game against the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets to provide an update on his recovery.

"It's just taking a little bit longer than expected because of the nature of my position", said the all-star goaltender.

He added that if the Canadiens were going into the playoffs he would "absolutely" play, but that at the moment, he does not feel the need to get on the ice.

"I just want to make sure that I'm 100 percent and do my job to the best of my ability when I come back", Price said. Price's backup, Al Montoya, is also now sidelined due to a concussion.

Bergevin said Niemi could stick with the Canadiens after Price returns as not to interfere with the development of standout rookie Charlie Lindgren.

Lehkonen scored two goals and registered three assists through 18 games with the Canadiens this season.
