Alexi Iwboi grabbed a brace earlier today for Nigeria as they cruised past Argentina 4-2 in a friendly match that, thankfully, concludes the last round of worldwide fixtures until next March.

Despite appearing for England at youth level, Alex Iwobi decided in 2015 to represent Nigeria at senior level, and has recently explained why, in a report by the Mirror.

The Albiceleste have struggled of late without their talisman, but looked to have set things straight this evening when Ever Banega and Sergio Aguero gave the 2-time World Cup winners a 2-0 lead after 36 minutes.

Manchester City hit man, Sergio Aguero scored his 36th global goal to move clear in third place on Argentina's all-time scorers' chart, as Jorge Sampaoli's side looked set to prosper despite the absence of Messi.

Banega delivered the opening goal on 28 minutes with a well-struck free-kick after Nigeria goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi was penalised for a handball outside his area.

Iwobi, for his part, notched a brace either side of a goal from Brian Idowu, with his second coming after a wonderful nutmeg on Barcelona star Javier Mascherano.

Argentina's attempts to claw their way back into the match were ended when Iwobi grabbed his second goal on 73 minutes, taking a pass from Ahmed Musa and hammering home to seal just a second win over Argentina in eight meetings.
