Jeff Long will not return as the Arkansas athletics director, according to multiple media reports and confirmed by SI.com's Bruce Feldman. No word yet if the school made the decision to terminate Long or if he resigned. Long replaced legendary Arkansas athletics figure Frank Broyles in 2008. A source close to the UA board of trustees also told Arkansas Business that Long is out, with an official announcement by the university expected later today. Though Petrino had success, 34-17 overall, Petrino's off the field issues that included an affair whom he hired to work in the athletic department was brought to light.

Long hired several big name coaches over his tenure, including head football coach Bret Bielema and head basketball coach Mike Anderson. But Bielema is just 29-32 as Razorbacks coach, and the team is 4-6 this season. If Arkansas is going to get to.500 and bowl eligibility, the Hogs have to beat Mississippi State and Missouri.
