Actor and activist Rose McGowan has been released on a $5,000 bond after surrendering to United States police on foot of a warrant for alleged felony possession of a controlled substance. A felony warrant was issued last month for her arrest, and the actress surrendered Tuesday to the Sheriff's Department in Loudoun County, Virginia.

The warrant, obtained by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department, was issued on February 1, according to the Associated Press.

The warrant was obtained on February 1, 2017, after a police investigation of McGowan's personal belongings "tested positive for narcotics and were left behind on a flight arriving at Washington Dulles International Airport" on January 20, the Airports Authority Police Department told us. It's said cocaine was found inside a wallet she dropped.

McGowan recently fought back after an arrest warrant was issued against her for felony possession of a controlled substance in Virginia. "What a load of HORSES-", she tweeted.

It is not clear when the actress became aware of the warrant.

The news of the warrant only surfaced in late October, but Rose was quick to dismiss the legal trouble, insisting authorities were using the drug charge to try and “silence” her after speaking out about the sexual abuse she allegedly suffered at the hands of disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein. "Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances".
