UC Browser gets temporarily delisted on the Play Store for 'misleading' users

However, as time passed on, other companies who develop their own high-end browsers have emerged.

Dear Partner, We hereby emphasis again that UC Union prohibits any and all misleading/malicious advertising method (s) to procure new users when promoting UC Browser campaigns, such as by using slogan inconsistent with the Product functions, or by using inductive slogan.

UCWeb has also claimed that Indian users make up 100 million of its total monthly active users from around the world, with the latter figure reportedly reaching 420 million, per reports from 2016.

According to an e-mail sent out to the developers in question, they will have 30 days to do one of the following: remove their apps from the Google Play Store, "remove any requests for accessibility services within [their apps]" or "explain to users how [their apps are] using the [accessibility services] to help users with disabilities".

Now, there have been no reasons declared, no announcements done on the subject either from Google or UC Web. Like sending user data back to China, something that China-based application developers often get accused of in addition to shady practices like tag-jacking (so as to top app store searches), using misleading names, copying the names of popular apps and lots and lots of ads (including lock screen ones that just won't go away).

Although UC Browser isn't available for download, UC Browser Mini is still up on the Play Store. UCWeb has previously denied any wrongdoing, stating that it "will not do anything to breach the trust of our users" and that it takes "security and privacy very seriously". He also said that they have not received any notice from the government.

Google may have issued this warning in an effort to reduce potential security risk. The app, which is particularly popular in India, has been delisted from the app store for misleading and unhealthy promotions. At least this is the case here in India.
