Vivians, William added to Wooden Award Top 30

Some experts seem to think so.

The John Wooden Award preseason Top 50 list was released on Tuesday and two players from the state of Oklahoma are on the list.

Shamet, who averaged 11.4 points and 3.3 assists last season, was one of four players from the American Athletic Conference, joined by Houston senior Rob Gray, Cincinnati junior Jacob Evans, and Southern Methodist junior Shake Milton.

The National Ballot consists of 15 top players who have proven to their universities that they are also making progress toward graduation and maintaining at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA.

Oklahoma is the only school to have multiple award winners in the past 14 years with Buddy Hield and Blake Griffin winning the award in 2016 and 2009, respectively.

Young was one of 10 freshman and just one of six Big 12 players to make the list. Graham also ranked second in the Big 12 a year ago in three-pointers made per game (2.6), third in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.3), and sixth in assists per game (4.1). The victor of the 2018 John R. Wooden Award will be presented during the a college basketball awards show on ESPN on Friday, April 6, 2018.
