The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s CEC meeting to discuss issues related to upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections is now underway at party's headquarters in Delhi.

The BJP's central election committee meeting, chaired by Shah, was also attended by state Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. Gujarat Congress leaders like Bharatsinh Solanki, state in-charage Ashok Gehlot and other leaders are in the Delhi since November 14, to discuss their final list with the CEC and the party high command, but they have now postponed the meeting. "The party is also waiting for the BJP to announce its list first".

After CEC meeting, Union Health Minister JP Nadda said the discussion on names for most of the seats for Gujarat election has been done and it will be declared at "appropriate time". The first phase of the polls in Gujarat will cover 89 constituencies in 19 districts while the second phase will cover 93 constituencies spread across 14 districts.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has just ended his fourth visit to the state and its leaders are confident of unseating the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party although BJP leaders say that would not happen. The counting of votes will take place on December 18.
