How about that for a bounce-back performance? But while the loss was unfortunate, that wasn't the worst news for the Pelicans.

Murray finished with 31 points on 13-of-18 shooting, narrowly missing his career high of 32 points set less than a week ago in a win over the Orlando Magic.

Jokic attempted a spin move on the baseline, but was called for an offensive foul when the back of his head flung into the front of Davis' face.

The New Orleans Pelicans' All-NBA forward received a blow to his forehead when trying to defend Nikola Jokic early in the third quarter of Friday's game against the Denver Nuggets. In his third game of the regular season, Rajon Rondo notched 13 points and six assists in 25 minutes of action. After heading to the locker room to enter concussion protocol the Pelicans ruled out a return. The Nuggets pushed lead back to 24 points by the late stages of the third quarter. The Nuggets went on to post a dominant victory over the Pelicans, who trailed by the looked-like-a-misprint tally of 35-8 to open the night.

Davis had 17 points and five rebounds before his exit.

Davis checked out of the game with 11:02 left in the period and he was escorted by Pelicans trainers into the locker room. The Nuggets' 146 points was a season-high eclipsing the 129 they scored against Toronto on November 1.
