Dortmund vs. Tottenham: Eriksen and Pochettino's point of view

Strikes from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez consigned Pochettino to his first defeat in a north London derby, but the first goal in particular drew the Argentine's ire.

"The foul wasn't a foul".

He added: "It's always important to compete and to be focused on the next game and when you lose, it's important to play as soon as possible to change that feeling". What happened? We need to focus on the game today. We can't control that. They have qualified for the round of 16 but Pochettino has no intention of resting any players for tomorrow's encounter. But it's not one mistake; it's two mistakes.

Goalscorer Mustafi then appeared offside when man-of-the-match Mesut Ozil delivered a free-kick, with Pochettino also uncertain whether Alexandre Lacazette was onside before assisting the Gunners' second.

'Until we start treating Tottenham like we treat Arsenal, the Manchester clubs and Liverpool, that's when you think they have overtaken them'.

Pochettino, however, denied there is a trend and said improving his side's away performances against top teams was not his highest priority.

"The [awarding of the] free-kick [was wrong] and I think it's offside", Pochettino told Sky Sports. "We are in the same situation as everyone".

Manchester United are interested in bringing Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose to Old Trafford as part of a £40 million deal which could see Luke Shaw move in the other direction. "We need to win trophies, we need to build the new stadium, we need to build the squad, we need to play young players". "At the same period, one year ago, we were in Monaco, and after that game we were out of the Champions League".

"When you have 10-11 months out and then play, sometimes it's better to train and prepare for the next game, where he could be on the bench and even play".
