Five-star center Bol Bol commits to Oregon

Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks won a commitment Monday from an extremely promising prospect with a name (and stature) familiar to any basketball fan.

In a post on The Players Tribune Monday, 18-year-old Bol Bol said he will be heading to Eugene in the fall to join the OR program.

I felt like the whole coaching staff knew my game - and I'm not just saying that. "And then later by Coach Altman".

"It came down to OR and Kentucky", Bol wrote in a column for The Players' Tribune.

"It was really those first few meetings with Coach (Tony) Stubblefield that impressed me the most", Bol wrote.

"Here's what I know". He was really real with me.

Fresh off a trip to the Final Four, the Oregon Ducks have landed one of the top recruits in the country with a legendary National Basketball Association pedigree. He didn't shy away from that.

And throughout all those talks with the OR coaching staff about what they envisioned for me, they mentioned all those things. He transferred from Mater Dei in California to Findlay Prep earlier this month. He went for 26 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks in a head-to-head matchup against No. 1 recruit and current Duke freshman Marvin Bagley III. I'm tall (obviously), but I'm not my dad. But I like to work from the perimeter. I get a lot of satisfaction from passing to someone who's more open than me.

Bol's commitment gives OR the nation's No. 1 ranked basketball recruiting class, according to 247Sports composite rankings. Bol is rated as the No. 3 overall player nationally by and is the highest-ranked player to ever sign with Oregon.
