NBC has renewed THE GOOD PLACE for a third season, the broadcast network announced Tuesday. The early renewal is a sign of faith that the network is building up its comedy line-up, something that has been slowly dying in recent years. We're obviously excited for more Mars to come to fruition, but we're more than happy to be glued to The Good Place in the meantime. It will return in early January with its last five episodes of the season.

The Good Place is a TV critic's dream.

While much of The Good Place season 1 received decent reviews, the show became a critical hit when it introduced a massive twist in the season 1 finale. Like its first and second seasons, the third installment of the sitcom starring Kristen Bell and Ted Danson will consist of 13 episodes. Season 2 of the comedy, also starring Ted Danson, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, Manny Jacinto and D'Arcy Carden, is now airing and will return in January with new episodes. When additional platform viewing is taken into account, the show's ratings grows to a 2.6 in the key demo, a bump up from its 2.57 rating compared with this time last season.
