Representative John Conyers, serving MI and representing much of the city of Detroit as well as the suburbs of River Rouge, Wayne, Melvindale, Dearborn Heights, Westland and Romulus, is the longest serving member of the House and a civil rights icon.

Conyers regularly made sexual advances on female staffers and would ask them for sexual favors, according to the affidavits signed by his former staffers.

The website also published three notarized affidavits, dated October and November 2014, allegedly signed by former Conyers staffers.

A spokeswoman for House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., did not immediately provide comment Monday. The outlet initially obtained the documents from Mike Cernovich, the pro-Donald Trump conspiracy theorist who helped catapult the debunked "Pizzagate" theory, but said it confirmed their provenance independently.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Al Franken of Minnesota last week called for an ethics investigation of his own behavior after a Los Angeles radio anchor accused him of kissing and groping her without her consent during a USO tour in 2006.

John Conyers settled a complaint in 2015 from a woman who alleged she was sacked from his Washington staff because she rejected his sexual advances, BuzzFeed News reported. The congressman did not admit to fault as part of the settlement agreement.

Another staffer said she was "tasked with driving women to and from Conyers' apartment and hotel rooms".

The staffer said she told Conyers she wasn't interested in a sexual relationship, and he withdrew his hand, according to her affidavit.

Documents examined by BuzzFeed described a wide-range of inappropriate conduct, including making requests for sexual favors, caressing and touching, as well as having his staff contact and transport women they believed were sexually involved with him.

Another former employee recalled a similar incident, in which Conyers asked her to "just cuddle up with me and caress me before you go" after she refused his request to stay with him overnight after traveling to a fundraising event.

Conyers allegedly responded by saying he would work on it, but then complained publicly to others that he wished this staffer would stop putting things in writing.
