After his latest lengthy reign, The Miz finally lost the WWE intercontinental championship on Monday's WWE Raw.

Defeating fellow "Grand Slam" man The Miz, Roman's maiden reign with the secondary strap marks his newest taste of WWE gold, following tenures with the United States, WWE World Heavyweight and Tag Team Titles.

The main event had been set up when Rollins and Ambrose accompanied Reigns on Miz TV earlier in the show.

The Miz's seventh Intercontinental Championship reign ends at 169 days, after he beat Reigns' Shield stablemate Ambrose for the title back at WWE Extreme Rules in June. Reigns recovers and catches Miz with a Samoan drop for a near fall, Reigns sets up for the superman punch and Miz avoids it. Miz trips up Reigns and lands a kick to the head for a near fall, Miz gets angry and he stomps away on Reigns. He's main evented WrestleMania, he's held the WWE championship, he's successfully cashed in the Money in the Bank contract, and he's also a two-time US champion and six-time tag team champion to boot.

With the win, Reigns is the 17th Grand Slam victor in WWE history, a list that also includes The Miz and Dean Ambrose. That meant both Rollins and Reigns would need to secure the Intercontinental Championship one day to join him in those hallowed ranks.
