The smartwatches can now control Samsung-enabled IoT devices through Samsung Connect, including the Samsung Gear VR.

In a press release, the company revealed that the value pack update brings a number of enhancements and improved features, which will make the Gear S3 'more versatile than ever'.

Samsung has announced the roll-out of a major update for its Gear S3 smartwatch.

I recently set my Gear S3 Frontier aside to focus on using the new Apple Watch Series 3 with my iPhone X, but am testing several Android phones and may be moving back to a Galaxy Note 8 in a month. With Tizen 3.0, you can use the Gear S3 to continuously monitor your heartbeat with improved accuracy, add food eaten throughout the day to keep track of calories, and use Samsung's Health Fitness Program that allows you to control workout videos on your smart TV and even see your heart rate in real-time on the big screen.

For example, you can now create new contacts and events right on the smartwatch itself instead of simply viewing what's already there.

Samsung has released a new software update for its Samsung Gear S3 smartphone.

Also included in the Value Pack update are communication-centric goodies. Users can now create to-do lists on their phone and check items off on their wrist, and any reminders from your phone should now work with the Gear S3.

Again, the update is rolling out now and weighs in at roughly 257MB and should be Tizen 3.0. But first, you should know that widgets have been better optimized for the Gear S3's circular display, with a new band that circles the display, providing even more information.

The Gear S3′s Value Pack update is now available and can be downloaded using the Samsung Gear app. Bixby Voice is not yet supported on the Gear S3 though.
