Three LeT terrorists from Pakistan killed in north Kashmir encounter

SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) - At least three militants belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed Tuesday in a fierce gunfight in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.

DGP SP Vaid tweeted saying,"Three LeT terrorists all Pakistanis neutralized in Magam area of Handwara district in North Kashmir".

The gun-battle broke out after security forces cordoned off Magam area in Handwara following specific information about the presence of the terrorists.

The DGP also addressed a gathering of police personnel where he said he was proud of the excellent work done in Kulgam and in the south Kashmir region, the spokesman said.

A search operation in still on in the area.

The police are still trying to establish the identity of the other terrorists.

Owaid is the third member of Lakhvi's family to join the LeT. Lakhvi's older brother Musaib was killed in an encounter in the Hajin area of Bandipore district in January 2017 and Lakhvi's son was also killed by the Valley police and the Army.
