President Trump finally broke his silence on GOP Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore's alleged history of sexually harassing teen mall employees and sexually assaulting underage girls.

"If you look at what is really going on, and you look at all the things that have happened over the last 48 hours, he totally denies it", Mr. Trump said.

"We don't need a liberal person in there, a Democrat, Jones", the president said Tuesday, noting Moore has denied the allegations against him.

"I've looked at his record, it's awful on crime, it's bad on the border, it's bad on the military", Trump said of Jones, ahead of the December 12 election.

"Judge Roy Moore graduated from West Point and then went on into the service, served in Vietnam and then came back and was in law school", Benham said. He totally denies it.

The issue puts the president in a potentially awkward position, given that the "Access Hollywood" recording almost derailed his campaign and that more than a dozen women have accused him of sexually inappropriate behavior.

Trump also said he will announce next week whether he will campaign for Moore, who has been abandoned by the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the Republican National Committee in the wake of the accusations.

"I've looked at his record", Trump added. He says it didn't happen.

Several women have come forward and accused Moore of pursuing romantic relationships with them when they were teenagers and he was in his 30s, and several others also have accused him of assault. It's awful on the border. "We don't need somebody who's soft on crime like Jones". The president left open the possibility Tuesday that he would visit the Yellowhammer State to campaign for Moore.

Trump also hit at Moore's rival Doug Jones - a 63-year-old US Attorney who is now ahead 47 percent to 42 percent in the polls.

"Well, he denies. I mean, he denies". And by the way, it is a total denial. "I do have to say, 40 years is a long time".
