16 people killed on OH roads over Thanksgiving holiday weekend

Fifteen people died in vehicle crashes in Missouri during this year's Thanksgiving counting period, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, compared with 14 fatalities last year. There were a total of 163 motor vehicle crashes investigated.

Troopers reported 542 arrests for impaired driving.

Saturday, 20-year-old Tavieon Johnson of Michigan City died after his and another vehicle collided on MS 5 in Bolivar County. Ray Hall, troopers suspect Amaya may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 5 p.m. the same day in Leflore County, a Ford van entered the median of U.S. 82 and rolled several times.

On Friday, 53-year-old Dennis Miller of Greenwood died after a van he was riding in left USA 82 and overturned in Leflore County.

During a five-day reporting period, from Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 12 a.m. until Sunday, Nov. 30, at 11:59 p.m., 16 people were killed in 11 fatal crashes. The truck left the road and flipped several times.

A wreck in Stone County Sunday killed 60-year-old Judy A. Pounds, of Moss Point.

The crash remains under investigation.
