Beltrami County authorities say they've recovered a pair of bodies from Upper Red Lake where they were searching for two missing people. The names of the deceased are being withheld pending formal notification of family. The Star Tribune reports the bodies were taken to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center for positive identification by the county coroner.

The two had traveled to Rogers Resort on the lake's south shore.

The pair had rented a sleeper fish house from the resort through noon Sunday.

The sheriff's office received assistance from local resorts, the Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota State Patrol, Kelliher-Waskish Fire-Rescue, Blackduck Ambulance, Bemidji Fire Department, Blackduck Police Department, Beltrami County Emergency Management and the Lakes Area Dive Team.

Authorities earlier said a 29-year-old man from Stacy and a 29-year-old woman from Princeton were missing after they were last seen fishing on the lake Saturday. They did not return to the resort and a vehicle driven by one of the individuals was still parked there.

The Sheriff's Office is also requesting that those in the area do not venture out on the ice to assist with the search as ice conditions are unfavorable.
