Eric Clapton announced as next Hyde Park headliner

Each summer, the festival takes place over two successive weekends at London's iconic Hyde Park, with each day headlined by a different world-famous performer.

It will be Clapton's third appearance in Hyde Park, following a 1969 date with Blind Faith opening for the Rolling Stones and another in 2008. An estimated 120,000 fans were there to see the debut concert by the band, also featuring Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood and Ric Grech.

Following the previously announced Roger Waters, Bruno Mars and Michael Bublé, guitar icon Eric Clapton has been announced as the latest headliner for Hyde Park's British Summer Time festival next Summer.

"I'm really looking forward to playing there again - the whole atmosphere is very special".

Eric Clapton plays Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park on July 8th. They include Borough High Street, Waterloo, Camden Market and the original site.

The rock legend said: "My belief in music is it's all good".

Clapton, famous for massive hits Layla, Tears In Heaven and his cover The Wailers' I Shot The Sheriff alongside his signature blues guitar playing first found success in the 1960's with blues rock outfit The Yardbirds, also a home to guitarists Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck.
