On the battery front, the Bharat 5 is powered by a 5000mAh non-removable battery, which the company claims can give a talk-time of 27 hours and 500 hours of standby time. With the fierce competition from the Chinese manufacturers in the mid-range segment, the Indian manufacturers are now more concentrating on the first-time smartphone buyers.

Under this partnership, existing and new Vodafone customers can purchase any of the popular new Micromax smartphones (Bharat 2 Plus, Bharat 3, Bharat 4and Canvas -1) and enjoy the cash back offers. Under its hood, the smartphone features a quad-core processor of an unspecified chipset that is teamed up with 1GB RAM and 16GB default storage space that can be further expanded up to 64GB using a microSD card. Apart from this, it is also expected that the device will come with a 5,000 mAh battery with fast charging. The smartphone boasts of a 5.2-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

For imaging, the Micromax Bharat 5 adorns a 5MP rear camera along with flash and bokeh mode. The front of the smartphone houses a selfie camera and three capacitive buttons placed on the bottom of the display. As the name suggests, the smartphone comes with "The Big 5's". It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and includes bloatware app. The device features smart key, which basically allows users to take screenshots, click pictures etc and it supports 22 Indian languages.

Micromax brought its Bharat range of affordable smartphones with the launch of the Bharat 2 in April. The device is priced at Rs. 5,555 and will be sold via offline stores across the country starting next week.

Commenting on the development, Avneesh Khosla, Associate Director - Consumer Business, Vodafone India disclosed that the new cash back initiative is launched to democratize access to Vodafone SuperNet 4G.
