A bench headed by CJI Deepak Misra had said in October that a constitution bench would be set up for Aadhaar-related grievances.

Eralier, quoting a government official PTI reported that the government will give additional three-six months to link the biometric identifier Aadhaar with PAN in case the Supreme Court rules in its favour.

The government has made Aadhaar linking mandatory for bank accounts, PAN cards, mobiles, pensions, scholarships, LPG connections, Public Provident Fund, NSCs and KVPs and more.

It has also made Aadhaar mandatory for obtaining benefits under the Varishtha Pension Bima Yojana (VPBY) pension scheme - a scheme meant for senior citizens reports Zee News.

"The duplicate PAN cards are the ones which are creating a major danger to the economy. So we need to worry about them", the official said.

Bank account: According to the available information, the deadline for the banks to link the account of the customer with their Aadhaar is December 31, 2017. "So, all the Benami transactions will go", the official said.

While the deadline for linking mobile numbers with Aadhaar will not be extended beyond the February 6, as it has already been accepted by the top court, the fresh March 31 deadline also comes with conditions. If you data is different that what's mentioned on your PAN, the Aadhaar will not be linked to your PAN.

At present, the deadline for linking the 10-digit alphanumeric PAN (Permanent Account Number), issued by the Income Tax Department, with Aadhaar is 31 December.

Keep in mind, that once the Aadhaar-PAN linking is done, you can e-Verify your IT returns using Aadhaar if your mobile is registered with Aadhaar.
