Carla Connor is set to get tongues wagging when she returns to Coronation Street this Christmas - not least of all her own, as she locks lips and enjoys a passionate fling with a surprising local.

It is at the request of her half-brother Aidan (Shayne Ward) that Carla decides to return home.

There's one last avenue for Aidan to explore before signing on the dotted line with Matthew and selling his old shop floor crew down the river (of course the fact he betrayed ex-fiancee Eva Price which led to her swindling him out of the factory in the first place means it's all his fault anyway...), so he makes a call. "She is at a stage where she is starting to think about life and family, her secret is making her take stock".

Admitting that Carla will always have feelings for Peter, the actress continued to comment: "There will always be something, she knows that she lost the good egg in Nick but she will always love Peter, she lost his baby, he knows her inside out".

"Prior to that she was a bit of a lone wolf". The actress also couldn't wait to see all her old cast mates again. "She is truly happy on her own but when she gets bored she quite likes to do things to take her mind off stuff", said King.

"It's something to do, it's not a big romance, and she also has another agenda for setting her sights on this person", Alison said. "She is a bit like Mother Christmas, she is a bit more vulnerable than she has been in the past".

Corrie boss and producer Kate Oates also recently hinted that Daniel is in store for a new romance.

If the troubled son of Ken Barlow is to embark on this steamy affair with Carla, we can only imagine it will ruffle more than a few feathers on the Street - most especially Peter Barlow. "I got butterflies from excitement about seeing everyone".

"It was so lovely, like I had never been away and I was happy I made the decision to return".

Coronation Street continues on ITV, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
