Nike have accidentally dropped a hint that Cristiano Ronaldo will win the Ballon d'Or on Thursday.

The boost are also branded as "Quinto Triunfo", which translates to "fifth triumph" clearly suggesting that Ronaldo's fifth Ballon D'Or is imminent.

France Football will announce the victor of the 2017 Ballon d'Or on Thursday afternoon.

Ronaldo himself announced the release of his own Air Force 1 CR7 trainers - following the same white/gold colour scheme.

Messi became the first player in history to win the prestigious award on five occasions with his victory in 2015.

The presentation of the Ballon d'Or is set to resemble the scenario of the yearly French Open tennis winners' celebrations next to the France capital famous monument.

He said: "Ronaldo is one of our great symbols. A few days ago, he won his second "The Best" and this week he is going to win his fifth Ballon d'Or".

Despite Ronnie preparing to take all the plaudits, Messi's Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde insists prizes do not concern him.

But the Argentine recognises that the fight for the Ballon d'Or has lost some of its gloss after so much success. Once that had happened I started to give even less priority to the individual prizes.

Real Madrid's Ronaldo is the front-runner to win football's most coveted individual prize for the second year running after leading Los Blancos to La Liga and UEFA Champions League glory in the 2016-17 campaign. I'd rather not evaluate any of them'.

Ronaldo has had better luck in the Champions League in 2017-18, scoring eight goals in five group-stage matches.
