David Silva stunner restores Manchester City's lead

The Manchester derby is up next for City on Sunday and there are eight points separating the two rivals at the top.

The 31-year-old Spain global, who scored the winning goal against West Ham United to maintain City's eight-point lead at the top of the table, will miss Wednesday's Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk and will need to prove his fitness ahead of the match at Old Trafford.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, revealed after his sides 3-1 victory over Newcastle on Saturday that Eden Hazard is enjoying the extra freedom that his new central role allows him.

I was really pleased with the performance of the players. I thought his decision making, when to come out and when to hold his position, he identifies it, releases himself and just tidies up nicely.

"I think the intensity was there, but when you've got 11 men behind the ball that are not interested in anything other than just parking the bus it makes it hard".

"I would prefer to win (games) earlier but the Premier League is the Premier League", Guardiola said. "Hopefully in the future opponents can want to play", replied Guardiola.

"Today I learned a bit, like a manager, to tackle it differently", he said.

"Then in the Community Shield, with two minutes to go we were going to penalties it was 2-2 against Manchester United at the time".

"We needed our goalkeeper to play well".

"I heard about the Fergie time", said Guardiola. I was not here in that period - but of course you need to have this.

David Silva struck late on to give Manchester City their 13th Premier League win in a row in what proved to be an unhappy return for Zabaleta. The opponent doesn't want to play.

City have not been playing their best football for past few weeks, but they just seem averse to losing this season. I understand. Don't misunderstand me. I understand. I am not judging but it is hard.

It was just over a month ago that Claude Puel became Leicester City manager to a chorus of disdain from pundits who stated it was a poor appointment, and we were even treated to the usual he's blocking young English coaches rubbish.

Perhaps, his critics should have taken the time to check his CV, which includes a league title with Monaco and a Champions League semi-final with Lyon.

West Ham remain without a win under David Moyes but, after forcing City to rely on late heroics for a third successive game, they will take much encouragement.

"Before the goal he felt something".

We witnessed the 15 round of the current Premier League season this weekend, and there were a number of key observations to be made.
