The statement by the group, representing 57 countries, came as President Trump delayed a waiver on moving the USA embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem that presidents have routinely issued since 1995 when Congress passed a law mandating the move.

"With widespread calls for demonstrations beginning December 6 in Jerusalem and the West Bank, U.S. government employees and their family members are not permitted until further notice to conduct personal travel in Jerusalem's Old City and in the West Bank, to include Bethlehem and Jericho".

According to White House officials, the U.S. leader is ready to support the two-state solution under a formula agreed by both sides, which will make it possible for Israel and Palestine to coexist peacefully.

Both the Arab League and Palestinians are speaking out against the notion that the USA may recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Reports indicate Trump is expected to announce he recognizes Jerusalem as the capital on Wednesday.

He lashed out against Arab leaders, wondering if Al-Quds issue requires an Arab summit.

Abbas was reported in al-Quds stating that Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital constituted a "withdrawal by Washington from its role as a mediator in the peace process" and as a "reward to Israel".

"Hamas movement is acting in a powerful manner for the launch of a new Intifada against the Israeli occupation; we need to formulate new strategies and polices to counter the threat and conspiracy against Jerusalem, against Palestine", he said. Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said today an embassy move would be a "dangerous measure that would have repercussions" across the region.
