It will reach a top speed of 305kmh, can go from zero to 100kmh in 3.6 seconds and brake from 100kmh to zero in 33.7 metres, according to company officials.

The all-new Lamborghini Urus SUV derives styling cues from its sibling super cars - Gallardo and Aventador.

The Urus has a 0 to 62 miles per hour (100 km/h) time of just 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 189.5 miles per hour (305 km/h), prices will start at $200,000 when it goes on sale next year.

"Our target is in one year and a half, we're going to double the volume of this company".

"We are entering new markets that will be very important for the future of our growth".

"The Lamborghini Urus is a visionary approach based on the infusion of Lamborghini DNA into the most versatile vehicle, the SUV", Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali said in a press release.

Named after an extinct wild ancestor of domestic cattle, the new model is the first sport utility vehicle put on the market by the Italian luxury auto brand in 25 years (since the LM002 model).

Under the hood, the Lamborghini Urus houses a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, a first turbo motor for the vehicle maker, which churns out 641 bhp of maximum power and 850 Nm of peak torque.

Prices for the Urus, excluding taxes, start at £131,500, with the first customers due to receive their vehicles by spring 2018.

He said the SUV was inspired by two emblematic models from the past - the LM002 that was the company's first foray into SUVs (it was dubbed the Lamborghini Truck), and the distinctively wedge-shaped Countach sportscar of the 1970s and 1980s.
