Lexus teases LF-1 Limitless Concept ahead of 2018 Detroit Auto Show

After a few years of wandering around, Lexus seems to have found a new groove now with the launch of the LC coupe, but also the NX crossover which showed the company could import some of that exciting design features into its SUV lineup as well. According to Lexus, the LF-1 concept reflects the next genre in luxury crossover vehicles and redefines the boundaries of luxury.

Lexus is coy about the car's interior, but the blue screens visible in the image appear to be headrest-mounted rear-seat entertainment systems, suggesting that the auto will focus heavily on in-car technology and passenger comfort. Expect it to influence all future models released by Lexus.

Any production version of the LF-1 would presumably slot-in above the RX at the top of the Lexus SUV range, providing an alternative to premium coupe-SUVs like BMW's X6 and the Mercedes GLE Coupe.

The range-topping SUV show vehicle is likely to be powered by either a new pure-electric powertrain, or a development of the same advanced petrol-electric hybrid configuration which powers the LS 500h. The blue lighting around the Lexus badge on the bootlid suggests that the LF-1 may boast a hybrid powertrain - potentially based around the 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine found in the RX SUV, which now tops the Lexus crossover range.

Stay tuned because Lexus is expected to continue to tease its LF-1 in the build to the Detroit show.
