The Cairo Christmas parade, which makes its way through downtown Cairo the first Thursday in December, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Dec 12., 7 p.m.

Starting Monday, the Cairo-Grady Chamber of Commerce received numerous phone calls about the parade and the weather forecast. The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. with festival booths opening at 9:00 a.m.

The many trees all have a theme such as "North Woods Christmas", "Santa Loves Sports", "Corn Country", "A Little Girl's Dream Christmas", "Santa's Washateria", "I Believe", "Vintage Christmas", "Candy Cane Delight", "All Aboard", "White Christmas" and "Santa's Elves Tree".

Ends at South Jefferson and E. Springfield.

The parade will depart at 6 p.m. for the Community Center, located at 408.

The event will include face painting, a balloon sculptor and visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Visitors should bring their own camera for pictures with Santa.

The Christmas lights display at Jackson Park was turned on for the first time.

The party is free, but participants are asked to bring canned food items if possible to benefit the food pantry.
