Quake measuring 5.1 jolts J&K

An natural disaster measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit Thang region in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. The natural disaster struck 111-km northeast of Thang.

"The epicentre is in Uttarakhand, the tremors felt in Delhi and NCR are the impulses", an official at Centre for Seismology, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Yesterday, an natural disaster of 5.5 magnitudes on the Richter scale jolted Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) on Wednesday.

The quake struck at Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand, at a depth of 30 kilometres, the India Meteorological Department said on its website.

This was the second natural disaster in Uttarakhand within a span of 24 hours.

As soon as tremors were felt, residents in various parts of Uttarakhand and other parts of north India.

On Wednesday, a 5.5 magnitude quake had hit Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district at around 8.49 pm.
