It's that time of year: Overwatch's seasonal event for the holidays, Winter Wonderland, returns December 12 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, developer Blizzard Entertainment announced today.

While Winter Wonderland is a revival of last year's event, Blizzard is bringing some major new additions. And, yes, there are new skins on the way. In a new developer update, the team behind the wildly successful shooter revealed all of the new plans surrounding Overwatch's Winter Wonderland, which will promptly begin next week!

Of course, there will be plenty of Legendary skins to be had, including a certain long-awaited Hanzo look first teased in last year's Christmas comic. Unfortunately, none of these were actually shown off, and the brief teaser below only shows one of Mei's existing skins. He also says that Winter Wonderland will include a seasonal pass-over of some of the maps, including the return of snowy Hanamura and King's Row, as well as a new seasonal pass on the Black Forest arena map. Kaplan described this as "one of the most gorgeous jobs [Blizzard's] environmental artists have ever done".

The centerpiece of 2017's Winter Wonderland event is a wild new Arcade mode called Mei's Yeti Hunt, which Kaplan said was the result of Blizzard wanting to "try something different and fun". The five Meis try to hunt down Winston as he seeks out power-ups. But once Winston triggers Primal Rage, the mode flips: It becomes all about the Meis attempting to escape before Winston can kill them. "But the point of some of these seasonal brawls is just to be fun and light and refreshing for a short period of time".

Many Overwatch players look forward to when the next limited time event in the game will be, as they often add new skins and new ways to play. With how awesome the Halloween skins ended up being (looking at you, Zenyatta), it's a little hard not to be excited as an Overwatch fan myself. An end date for the event hasn't been announced.
