Smith played at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 2017, recording 31 tackles and two interceptions. Those commitments bumped Alabama up to No. 10 in 247Sports 2018 team rankings.

A one-time 5-star prospect who transferred from LSU in the spring announced he has committed to Alabama. Not to mention, nickel corner Tony Brown and safety Hootie Jones will have exhausted their eligibility. His past experience in the SEC with LSU will give him an edge as he looks to crack the Alabama starting lineup next season, especially if Minkah Fitzpatrick decides to declare for the National Football League draft.

Alabama landed a commitment from one of its biggest targets in the 2018 class in former LSU cornerback Saivion Smith on Wednesday. He was expected to challenge for meaningful playing time at LSU this past regular season.

At LSU in 2016, Smith played in nine games and finished with four tackles and two pass breakups. He filled the stat sheet.

Smith was one of the top five corners nationally as well as a top-50 prospect overall in the 2016 recruiting class.

Smith is the No. 4 JUCO player in the 2018 class, No. 1 corner and the No. 3 player from Florida.
