Maggie Long, 17, went missing December 1, the same day her family's home burned down.

People showed up at the restaurant and liquor store her family owns with flowers and letters to her parents and after went to the Platte Canyon Community Church for a candlelight vigil. Police said Saturday that they were analyzing a crime scene near the home and that no search parties were organized to locate the missing teen.

That's according to a news release issued Thursday by the Park County Sheriff's Office, which says remains found inside the Bailey house were positively identified as 17-year-old Maggie Long.

"This Task Force will not rest until justice is obtained for Maggie and the Long family."

The suspected arson broke out at her home and Long's vehicle was found there.

Her death is being investigated as a homicide, investigators said.

Because of its ongoing activities in the case, Sheriff Fred Wegener said his office will not comment on any details or status of the investigation.

While the sheriff's office declined to comment further on the investigation, the department has asked the public to reach out about any suspicious vehicles, individuals or activities along County Road 43 in Bailey on December 1.
