The development team behind The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, The Astronauts, announced a new game at The Game Awards tonight called Witchfire.

"The reason we're launching the teaser so early is simply to let everyone know that we're alive and kicking, and how radically different this new project of ours is compared to our previous game, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter", chief developer Adrian Chmierlarz told Eurogamer. Entitled Witchfire, the game appears to be a briskly-paced (and rather good-looking) FPS, featuring dimension shifting and plenty of demon-slaying.

As you can see in the teaser, Witchfire uses the photogrammetry tech we previously used in The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

In addition to their old-fashioned firearms, players will rely on an array of powers including lightning fast movement and a telekinetic ability in order to interact with the environment and make short work of their foes. So this game is an indie team returning home in a sort.

There's now no concrete release date just yet.
