The Outlast games are headed to Nintendo Switch

As a matter of fact, Red Barrels made a post on the game's official Facebook page today to confirm that the sequel will be making the leap onto the Switch during the first quarter of 2018. In the same update post, the developer also revealed their next project regarding the series. Outlast 2 was created to make you feel like a rat in a maze, without any knowledge of what's outside the maze.

"About the future, many of you have been requesting a DLC". We've considered many options, but none of them felt appropriate for a DLC.

Although Red Barrels has plans for Outlast 3 (though not DLC for Outlast 2), the spin-off is the priority for now because of the team's determination to "create unique experiences and take risks".

However, the studio expressed that "we will, at some point, make an Outlast 3 and answers will be given", and instead said that the team is now "working on something a lot of you have been asking for". We can't say more right now, we first need to make sure we can make it work.

That said, there are plans for an eventual Outlast 3 and "answers will be given". While no other information or hints were given, the studio said that "if all goes well, we'll soon be able to reveal more". With this surely being the case for some, those who game exclusively on the Big N's latest console would do well to check out our review of Outlast 2 to see if it's up to snuff and worthy of a day one purchase next year.

We may not know if the game will launch on Nintendo Switch as a standalone title or as a collection with the addition of DLC.

Outlast 2 is slated to release in the first quarter of 2018 for the Nintendo Switch, and it is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
