The results come from a survey that polled 60,000 couples across 32 countries about the Netflix shows they watched in 2017 and how they watched those shows.

The return of Stranger Things gave Netflix its most popular streaming day in the United Kingdom this year.

Mexico had the most avid viewers with the most members watching Netflix every single day. The film just a 10 per cent approval rating on Metacritic.

It also revealed that one United Kingdom viewer watched Dreamwork's 2007 film Bee Move 357 times between the two dates, while another member was so enamoured by Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl that they watched it 365 days in a row.

Also according to the release, someone in Antarctica chose to binge-watch Shameless this year, while another person found themselves watching Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl 365 days in a row.

So while we start off with good intentions, the desire to get to the end as fast as possible ultimately wins over - this is what Netflix has dubbed "binge-racing". Stranger Things, 13 Reasons Why, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Star Trek Discovery, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Riverdale, Fuller House, Chef's Table, Atypical, and Anne with an E were series we opted to watch as part of nights with the fam.

And our most binge-raced series will come as no surprise; Stranger Things.

It shows the top three shows we watched together were Stranger Things, 13 Reasons Why and A Series of Unfortunate Events as well as the more nostalgic offerings. If you did, you weren't alone because Stranger Things was named the show that brought families together the most in 2017. Possibly because it combines the best bits of all of our most-streamed shows - comedy, sci-fi, drama, nostalgia and talkability - in one.
