Walking Dead Star Comments On Leaving The Show (Spoilers)

Riggs wasn't kidding. "How It's Gotta Be" revealed that Rigg's Carl Grimes has been nursing a pretty nasty walker bite around his ribs.

The Walking Dead wrapped up the first half of its eighth season by showing a longtime zombie-apocalypse survivor apparently on his deathbed. "There's no way he can get back from that". And it does leave some popular storylines without a protagonist, because Carl is still alive in the comic.

"It will play out as bites play out on the show", the show's executive producer and showrunner Scott M. Gimple said on Talking Dead following the 90-minute episode.

"I didn't expect for Carl to ever get killed off", Riggs told THR. " Since Carl wasn't bitten on a limb, there's no hope of him being saved by a quick amputation". He himself was shocked when he learned about the plans in June and said that he and his family "didn't know what to do" for a few days after. Scott was trying to figure out how to bridge the gap between Rick not wanting to kill Negan and Rick also really wanting to kill Negan, which he does right now [in the show's story].

I don't think I've talked to Kirkman about it at all.

"It's very important to Carl's story and the entire story what happens in the next episode".

He followed up after the broadcast with: "Jokes aside, thank you. you'll hear from me soon".

But tragically Negan's assault on Alexandria decimated the community and took one of the most beloved The Walking Dead characters with it.
