Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are reportedly ready to give Ozil a contract before the transfer window opens which will make the German worldwide the biggest paid player in the history of Arsenal Football Club. The German worldwide midfielder is out-of-contract at the end of the season, and is free to talk to clubs in January.

He said: "Ozil wants to play another two to three years in the Premier League".

Reports had suggested that Arsenal had made a final offer, but Arsene Wenger insists talks are ongoing.

"The conversations are, as always, going on with everybody".

It is also well known that Alexis Sanchez is in the same situation as Ozil, however, it is more likely that the Chilean will leave North London. Is it two years to go? "I can not tell you much more", said the Arsenal boss.

If Ozil does put pen to paper, he will become the highest earner in the club's history.

The 29-year-old is understood to be more interested in a move back to Spain with Barcelona and is holding out committing to any other club for the time being.

Barcelona have identified a three-man shortlist ahead of the January transfer window, according to Spanish publication Sport.

The Catalan giants are allegedly one of a number of clubs interested in signing Ozil, who has just over six months remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
