Klopp admits passions ruled after derby draw but has no regrets

Klopp believes the evolving demands of the game will see rotation become more frequent at the top level: "It is quicker, more intense, with more sprints, more high runs, less breaks and so many things".

Liverpool host West Brom on Wednesday evening, with Jurgen Klopp's side hoping to bounce back from a frustrating stalemate with Everton last time out. But he has disclosed that Salah was replaced by Firmino because of a hamstring scare and remains available to face Albion as the problem was not aggravated against Everton.

But Klopp has since revealed that he had to withdraw the Egyptian due to his injury scare, insisting they will take no risks on the £37 million summer signing. I don't throw something [names] in the air and catch them and say: "Ooh!"

The 25-year-old told the club's official website: "I think playing there is a position where you get to play the ball a great deal". I want to win the game 100 per cent, but on the other side I work with human beings and see them every day. Ask everybody who played during the week, it's intense what we're doing, so that's why we made changes.


"Calvert-Lewin is smart and takes a step but even then it's nothing", Klopp said in an ill-tempered post-match interview with Sky Sports. "Hopefully we took him off early enough". We have to do it. We had seven games in 21 games before Everton and now it's six games in 18 days. It is exactly the same. Nothing has changed. We need the best quality we can have for each game. "We can not ignore the number of games".

"I don't think anyone remembers it to be honest or watch it back and say "That was hilarious" or "It was legendary".

Throughout his time at Anfield, the Brazilian has often been deployed in a more advanced role - as part of a front three. Jose Mourinho has faced a backlash from press for how the game went and then for his behaviour after the game; the United manager confronted City's players, who he felt were behaving unprofessionally, only to be then pelted with drinks.
