'No one was asking these questions earlier in the season when Lukaku was scoring 11 goals in his first 10 games, ' Shearer told BBC's Match of the Day 2.

A lot was expected out of Lukaku in the mega Manchester derby at Old Trafford, but the Belgian worldwide failed to give a good account of himself.

Romelu Lukaku needs to believe he deserves to be at Manchester United after struggling during Sunday's derby, insisted former captain and full-back Gary Neville.

Following this, Mourinho is then said to have accused the City shotstopper of feigning injury and time-wasting, before shouting "you fucking show respect".

"He's not doing enough in games-and I hate saying it-to justify his fee".

Lukaku is a proven Premier League goalscorer, having forged his reputation at Chelsea, West Brom and Everton.

Things could not have gone much worse for him against City in his latest outing, as he contributed significantly to Pep Guardiola's team claiming derby spoils.

The Belgium global striker failed to clear the ball as David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi scored from set-pieces, while he was denied by City goalkeeper Ederson from close range late in the clash.

The Belgian's form is a worry, and after Lukaku proving to be ineffective in front of goal, with United threatening very little throughout the top of the table clash, very few fans were impressed with the striker's performance.

Lukaku was then seen leaping onto the backs of other United staff to try to get involved in the fracas, according to City sources.
