The Android Oreo Beta for Nokia 5 brought a new and redesigned camera app, Night light feature and also a change in the swipe up gesture to open app drawer apart from all Android Oreo features/changes.

Earlier this year, Xiaomi launched its first-ever Android One smartphone in India called Mi A1. Some beta testers updated their smartphones and reported that the smartphone started giving a better performance of fingerprint scanning after updating to Android 8.0 Oreo. The device came on the bounce of sale when the company gave a permanent price cut of Rs. 1000 in India. In fact, both the Android Oreo and the Android P updates have been promised.

Android Oreo comes with several improvements over Android Nougat such as faster booting, extended battery life by cutting down on unnecessary activities of apps in the background, more fluid experiences to phones and tablets as well as improvements in security via Google Play Protect that checks suspicious activities and malware in the application. Notably, some days ago, Xiaomi had selected (randomly or not, we are not sure) a few active users of Mi A1 who were eligible to receive and test the update.

The Oreo beta update is about 1.1GB in size and has the latest Android security patch level update for December 2017.

Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of Hmd Global has tweeted this news about the availability of beta builds of Android Oreo for Nokia 5. Once the beta testing is complete, a wider rollout of the update is expected sometime in the coming weeks.

So, Mi A1 device owners can expect to get a taste of Android Oreo (final version) before the end of January.
