Over on the singles chart, Christmas has well and truly arrived as Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You is at number two this week.

Ed Sheeran, Eminem, and Wham! are in the running for this year's Christmas Number One single. Ed's latest single flawless is now just ahead of new entry from USA rapper Eminem, River (2), which also features Ed.

Official Charts Company early sales reports (based on pre-orders and early sales data up to midnight last night), indicate that Ed Sheeran opens the week as front-runner in the biggest chart race of the year.

Could Ed clinch it?

Last Christmas by Wham! is at number three, the first time the beloved track has been in the top five since January 1985.

Divide has been a number one album for 18 non-consecutive weeks since then.

The record is now outselling Ed Sheeran's '÷' by three-to-one copies.

'With a heavy heart we have chose to close the Christmas number one album betting as we could not give the others away.

Ed Sheeran has scored a charts double whammy this week with a number one single and a number one album.

This old fave is now sitting at number three in the charts and if the next week sees festive music lovers jump on the download train, it could be pushed up the list.

Michael Ball and Alfie Boe's charity single which features Jason Manford and Imelda Staunton has come in at 37.

The countdown for the top spot kicked off on Friday and ends at midnight on Thursday December 21.
