After going a goal behind, Zlatan Ibrahimovic equalised, but Korey Smith scored a late victor to send the home fans into delirium.

As it stands, Bristol City, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal are competing in the semifinal of the competition. They won the game in our best moment, where we can't react, when everyone was waiting for our goal.

But they played brilliantly, fought like this was the game of their lives, which it probably was, and I think a handsome day for football, because a team from a lower division one.

"It was a brilliant day for football - congratulations to them".

"It was just one more day in the office for my players - a day some of them didn't even want to come to the office!"

Joe Bryan had given the Championship side the lead on 51 minutes at Ashton Gate Stadium before a Zlatan Ibrahimovic equaliser with 58 minutes played.

Yet City, which is third in the Championship and hunting promotion to the top-flight, kept believing.

"To beat Manchester United is outstanding".

"They are a special group".

It sent the fans wild, some retweeting City's gif in the tens of thousands and others at Ashton Gate pouring onto the pitch to celebrate with their team.

"I think we don't deserve to lose but we lost because the opponent was lucky".

In the other quarter-final Chelsea defeated Bournemouth 2-1, Alvaro Morata's goal dashing the Cherries' hopes at the death after Dan Gosling scored a 90th minute equaliser.

It was Alvaro Morata who scored the injury-time victor for the Blues, as Willian's opener 13 minutes into the game was cancelled by Dan Gosling's curled effort on the stroke of 90 minutes.

Speaking after the game, Mourinho made clear that he felt the Robins had benefited from some luck.

Bayer Leverkusen also booked its spot in the next round with a 1-0 victory over Borussia Moenchengladbach, while Schalke 04, and Werder Bremen advanced, along with Mainz 05, which eased past VfB Stuttgart 3-1 Tuesday. Later Dortmund got back into the contest with Andriy Yarmolenko ghosting into the box and heading in unmarked at the far post in the 77th.
