In the same week as the new Nissan LEAF went in to production in Sunderland, Nissan is aiming to make it as easy as possible for buyers to bag a new LEAF whilst they're whiling away time online.

As the world's most popular and best-selling EV, the innovative LEAF exemplifies Nissan's award-winning concept of Intelligent Mobility, and according to Nissan, the next-generation Nissan Leaf will deliver drivers a superior range and enhanced connectivity as well as advanced driver assistance systems and captivating style.

"We're excited to start production in Sunderland and to bring the new Nissan LEAF to European markets from February".

Nissan already has 10,000 orders in Europe for the new generation LEAF EV, and now it's opening up online ordering in the United Kingdom to add to those numbers. At the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) annual CES Unveiled ceremony in NY recently, the new Leaf was named Best of Innovation award victor for Vehicle Intelligence and Self-Driving Technology, and honouree for Tech for a Better World. A new e-Pedal allows drivers to start, accelerate, decelerate and stop the auto by simply increasing or decreasing the pressure applied to the accelerator, while ProPILOT automatically controls the distance to the vehicle in front and steers the vehicle to help keep the LEAF centered in the lane.

Nissan Europe divisional vice president for manufacturing, Kevin Fitzpatrick, said: "Nissan led the way in introducing electric vehicles to Europe in 2011, and every year since then it's been clear that more and more customers share our vision for the future of driving".
