On October 13, US President Trump announced that he would not certify Iran's commitment to the deal.

Iran warned the USA of the consequences of any unilateral retreat the 2015 nuclear deal between the Islamic Republic and world powers.

A source familiar with decision-making in Washington in relation to the IRIB sanctions said Trump was persuaded not to impose restrictions on the Iranian central bank, but instead to target specific organizations such as state TV.

Earlier, the Iranian Ambassador to the United Nations claimed that Tehran had "hard evidence" that the violence in the protests was incited from overseas, adding that instigators based in the United States and Europe have been seen inciting violence during the protests.

President Donald Trump faces several deadlines this week regarding the future of the nuclear deal that will determine whether the U.S. remains party to nuclear deal.

Under the accord, Iran curbed its nuclear program in exchange for an easing of global economic sanctions. "It will send a strong message to Iran without imposing more hardship on Iranians like other sanctions", the source said.

Zarif is due to travel for talks with the European parties to the deal, Britain, France, Germany and the European Union, at the end of the week.

President Donald Trump must decide by mid-January whether to continue waiving USA sanctions on Iran's oil exports under the terms of the nuclear pact that eased economic pressure on Tehran in exchange for limits on its nuclear program.
