When asked about Rahane's exclusion in favor of Rohit, Kohli told that the decision was taken considering current form and not statistical or technical efficiency.

"You have to bring Rahane and Rahul back in the playing XI for the next Test". Three of those hundreds have come against Australia (1), England (1) and New Zealand (1) while the rest are against Sri Lanka (2) and the West Indies (1). "When we toured South Africa, we didn't have such a bowling attack like the current team".

In the second innings as well Rohit looked good when he was building a partnership with Kohli but both batsmen departed in quick succession to leave India reeling.

For the first time since the inaugural series in 1992-93, an Indian batsman did not score a hundred in a Cape Town Test. The 29-year-old has played 19 Tests at home and amassed 1009 runs at an average of 33.63 with 3 tons and as many half-centuries. It's not just about form, it's also about where people score runs. India will have to bottle down and fight hard in the batting.

While many are slamming skipper Virat Kohli for his team selection in the first Test, asking him to pick opener KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane in place of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma respectively, Sehwag feels it won't be justified to exclude the two batsmen on the basis on one Test failure. Rahul because he has done well in overseas conditions.

It's been only three days since Team India suffered an ignominious defeat at the hands of South Africa in the first Test at Newlands in Cape Town but one can see in the picture Kohli was already past that bitter experience.

It will all depend on what the team-management wants. "Now in Centurion, we can play him as an extra batsman, if required".

India were high on confidence about becoming the first to win a Test series in South Africa when they landed in the rainbow nation on 28 December.
