After delivering the promised Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Mi A1, Xiaomi now plans to release a similar update for the Mi Mix 2, the sequel to the phablet that changed the way smartphone makers design their products.

First of all, you need to download MIUI Global Forum app from the Google Play Store.

The company has already released the pure Android Oreo update to Mi A1 Android One series, now it wants to extend the software (custom MIUI version) roll-out to the Mi Mix 2 in global markets soon. You can go ahead and try the beta version. The beta update will not have support for full features for the device. The company has asked users of the smartphone to register themselves for the beta testing program before January 8 at 11:59 PM (China time). After that, you can report the bugs to the developer team.

Days after awaiting the smartphone, Indian fans of Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 got hands on the device on October 10 at just Rs. 35,999, prior to 2018. Xiaomi will send a message if you are selected to be one of the beta testers. After the best testing completes, the stable update will be rolled out for the phone. It is powered by 2.45 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 835 64-bit processor coupled with 6GB RAM and 128 internal storage along with Adreno 540 GPU. This closed beta program runs as it does for the Mi 6, for which, Xiaomi began to take beta testers in December 2017. On the right of the lens is a dual LED flash and below it is a fingerprint scanner.

On the connectivity front, the device offers 4G with VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Global Positioning System with AGS/GLONASS and USB Type C. Unfortunately the device lacks 3.5mm headphone jack but instead, the device will be shipped with a USB Type-C dongle.
