Hoda Kotb: 7 Things to Know About Matt Lauer's Replacement

When the richest people in the country are hoarding their wealth at an unprecedented rate, it seems unproductive to quibble about whether a news anchor deserves an extra $18 million.

On Nov. 29, 2017, both Kotb and Guthrie announced Matt Lauer's firing from NBC after sexual misconduct allegations surrounding the longtime NBC morning anchor were revealed.

An NBC insider recently told Page Six that Hoda "isn't complaining" that her salary is much less than what Matt was previously earning. The woman said she kept quiet about the accusation as she was afraid for her job. At the time of his firing, Lauer was making $25 million a year. If things go well, Hoda could ask for more next time if she re-ups her contract. 'This has to be the most popular decision NBC News has ever made'.

The question of who would replace Lauer, 59, the biggest star of morning television with a almost 21-year run anchoring Today, swirled over the last month.

She married former University of New Orleans tennis coach Burzis Kanga in 2005 and the couple divorced two years later, the same year Kotb underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery for breast cancer. "And I think it makes us appreciate it so much more".

Hoda Kotb may round up the evaluations on "Today", yet she discloses to People magazine she won't make an indistinguishable pay from the man she's supplanting.

"There's no one I'd rather be sitting next to in 2018 than you", Kotb replied. According to the Daily Mail, she will continue in that slot, but will also co-anchor the first two hours that focus on the news.

In recent years, Kotb began joining Guthrie and Lauer at the anchor desk in the programme's second half-hour. Hoda on the other hand has been the fourth hour cohost with Kathie Lee Gifford for nine years, but she was only added as the full-time third spot anchor last March.

In addition to Today, she has also served as co-host of NBC's coverage of the Tournament of Roses Parade and the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting. "He adores Hoda and he knows how good she is and so I know that to be true".
